After luxuriating in bed for an extra hour, I came downstairs to homemade waffles and sausage. Ah, but let me back up….
When I woke up, I rolled over and found this on my pillow:
So, sorry to disappoint everyone else in the world, but the pink foam hath spoken and declared me #1.
*then* I trotted downstairs, my new pendant hanging off my necklace like Flava Flav, much to the kids’ delight. Waffles were consumed. The afternoon was going to be weird, as J had to start his shift at 3pm and I had to get the kids to soccer by 1. So we planned for the celebration to be an early lunch. I was greeted by this little beauty after we ate – made by my Jason:
And methinks someone just baked themselves into making all of our cakes in the house. This was so cute I almost didn’t want to eat it. Almost.
K grew a flower for me at school – quite literally planted the seed and watered it during class time the past few weeks; and it did really well, I can’t wait to see what it’s going to look like when it blooms – I was going to Google it since I have no idea what a firecracker perennial looks like, but J mentioned it would probably be more fun and more surprise-y if I didn’t and I like that idea – it will be a gift that gives twice!
D made me a VERY sparkly sun visor, and filled out a little questionnaire about me – I am impressed how much he really knows about me!
Yes, it says MOM on it in blue at the edge, with an orange arrow pointing back towards me. I just love this kid.
I got 2 hanging baskets for the front porch, too:
I think I need to have Jason get some chain or something to make them hang a little lower, they look a little odd so high up.
After soccer and hanging plants, since J was at work I decided I wasn’t going to lift a finger for dinner so I took we remaining three out for an early dinner at Friendly’s. Sometimes a turkey club really hits the spot, you know? Later on, I had a great time hanging with friends at choir and then went back to one of their houses to have a motherly glass of wine afterwards.
All in all, it was a really nice day – not too much fanfare, but what did happen was just how I like it.
